Rain Barrel Dimensions
Our rain barrels are 2 feet in diameter, and 3 feet tall.
The spigot and overflow are the standard 1/2" garden hose size.
Usage & Care Tips
Here are some tips for use and care of your rain barrel.
- Keep 100% waterproof silicone or plumbers tape on hand. Sometimes the seal of the spigot and the barrel can get loose from over-tightening the nozzle. Just apply some silicone to reseal. Make sure the surface is dry before applying.
- Elevating the barrel will make it easier to access the spigot and easier to fill water cans.
- Keep the debris screen clear of any obstructions that may prevent water from flowing freely into the barrel.
- Be mindful of where you run your overflow hose. During heavy rainfall, the overflow hose may cause erosion to bare ground or gardens. Place the hose with this in mind.
Winterizing Tips
When Fall come,s make sure you winterize your barrel. If a full rain barrel freezes, you will need to buy a new one because it will crack. Follow these simple tips to winterize your rain barrel.
- At the end of your watering season, drain all the water out of your barrel.
- You may want to remove the top screen and wash out any sediment that has settled during the summer months.
- Make sure you hook your gutter back up. You can use the flexible gutter extender to hook your downspout back up.
- If you plan on storing your barrel outside, be sure to tip it upside down to prevent it from filling with snow or ice.
